Six more relief centres open as floods worsen in Kedah

ALOR STAR: Six additional temporary relief centres have been opened as floods worsen across Kedah.

This brings the total number of operational flood evacuation centres to 28, currently housing 3,477 people from 986 families as of 10am today.

According to the Social Welfare Department's Disaster Info mobile app, Kota Setar has been the hardest hit, with 1,215 victims from 174 families sheltering in eight centres.

Seven centres in Kubang Pasu are providing refuge to 704 individuals from 214 families, while three centres in Pokok Sena are hosting 794 flood victims from 216 families.

In Pendang, three centres are caring for 429 victims from 108 families, and three centres in Kulim are accommodating 86 victims from 26 families.

Additionally, three centres in Kuala Muda are sheltering 131 victims from 50 families.

As of 9am, seven out of nine rivers in the state have recorded water levels exceeding the danger mark.
