Bar hoping to engage Azalina on institutional reforms

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Bar is hoping to be able to engage Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.

Its president, Karen Cheah, said the Bar was looking forward to working with Azalina as institutional reforms were important to ensure that there is good governance in the new administration under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

This was also in line with the fact that Anwar had said that good governance was one of his objectives, she said.

"I hope we will be able to engage her directly," she said, adding that there were some reforms which were "urgent and critical".

Cheah said the Bar had all the necessary paperwork ready to meet Azalina as soon as possible.
