KUALA TERENGGANU: Waters levels at four rivers in Terengganu have breached the danger threshold following continuous heavy rain and strong winds since last night.
According to the Drainage and Irrigation Department's website, infobanjir.my, the four rivers are Sungai Nerus in Kampung Langkap, Sungai Chalok near the Chalok bridge, in Setiu, Sungai Tersat in Kampung Sekayu and Sungai Telemong at Kampung Kuala Ping, Hulu Terengganu.
As of 7.45am, water levels at Sungai Nerus and Sungai Chalok have reached 21.29m and 9.02m respectively, exceeding their danger levels of 21m and 8.40m.
Sungai Tersat and Sungai Telemong recorded 20.05m and 20.76m respectively, exceeding their danger levels of 20m and 19.70m.
Meanwhile, water level of Sungai Nerus in Setiu was reported at 12.17m, exceeding the warning level of 12m.
The website also reported that 19 rivers have exceeding their alert levels.
Meanwhile, The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued a warning of continuous heavy rain throughout the state.
