Kampung Serongga worst-hit village in Kelantan floods [NSTTV]

PASIR MAS: Kampung Serongga in Repek has become the worst-hit flood area in the district here following the heavy downpour in the past few days.

Authorities said flood victims from more than 100 houses in the village have been relocated to flood relief centres after their homes were inundated in 0.2m to 0.5m-deep floodwaters since Sunday night.

Kelantan is currently the state with the highest number flood victims. Up to 12.30pm, 1,626 out of 2,944 flood victims nationwide are from this state.

Pasir Mas deputy district police chief Superintendent Nik Aminuddin Raja Abdullah said most of the victims were evacuated to relief centres at SK Tok Deh and SK Kiambang.

He said flood situation had improved slightly today, as the there was a drop in Sungai Golok's water levels.

"Sungai Golok's water level dropped slightly this morning compared with yesterday, but it is still above the danger level.

"Up to 10.30am today, a total of six relief centres were opened," he said after visiting Kampung Serongga today.

Nik Aminuddin said Kampung Serongga was the most affected area in Pasir Mas, followed by Kampung Putat Tujuh, Kampung Kubang Kual, Kampung Tok Deh and Kampung Padang Licin.

He added several roads were flooded over, including Jalan Kubang Pak Hitam, Jalan Kampung Tok Deh and Jalan Kampung Senor.

"These roads have been closed to light vehicles after being inundated with 0.2 to 0.8m-deep floodwaters."

He said 140 policemen in the district had been deployed to aid in rescue operations in the past three days.
