KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 51 adults and 30 children registered for an overnight stay at the Father's Organic Farm campsite in Batang Kali, where an early-morning landslide struck today.
The person in charge of the campsite, who wished to be known only as Chang, said; "The number comprises those who had registered with the campsite."
However, Chang said, she was not sure if there were any children below the age of 4 at the campsite, as they were not required to register. Only children aged between 4 and 12 need to register, she told Bernama.
Chang said the campers were mostly families, and that there were no school or university students.
It was initially reported that about 100 people were feared trapped at the campsite following a 30-metre-high landslide.
Up to 11am today, 53 victims have been brought out safely. Nine died in the incident.
The search-and-rescue operation is ongoing. Bernama
