BATANG KALI: Despite heavy rain, authorities are determined to continue the search and rescue (SAR) mission to retrieve the remaining nine victims trapped under the landslide near Father's Organic Farm campsite here.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent Suffian Abdullah said the operations will continue until 4am and will resume after a short break at 9am tomorrow.
He said the team is currently concentrating their efforts to locate the missing victims at Sector A (hillside) of the landslide-hit zone.
"Undoubtedly, the heavy rains last night made the SAR more challenging today.
"The team will work on a rotation basis to retrieve the remaining victims," he told reporters, here, today.
The SAR team has excavated 40 per cent of the incident site and discovered the remains of another three victims today.
The three victims found today were a woman, likely to be in her 30s, a toddler aged between two and three, and a girl, aged between seven and eight.
The death toll of the tragedy currently stands at 24.
Suffian said they will retain 135 members for the SAR operations, and they will be on rotation until the rescuing mission is completed.
