KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat today saw a departure from its normal oath-taking ceremony procedure involving incoming members of Parliament.
Incoming members of Parliament in batches took their oath of office on the rostrum before the seat of the Dewan Rakyat Speaker.
Hulu Langat Member of Parliament Mohd Sany Hamzan however was dispensed with the need for him to make the short walk to the rostrum.
This was after Speaker Datuk Johari Abdul told the Dewan Rakyat that following surgery, the doctor have advised the Parti Amanah Negara lawmaker not to walk, much.
Thus, Johari dispatched a Dewan Rakyat clerk to administer the oath of office at Sany's seat, where the lawmaker took it with gusto while standing.
