PASIR MAS: Health Ministry will give priority on improving facilities in Kelantan including the request by Kelantan health department for additions of four-wheel-drive ambulances and lorries to ease logistics.
The specified mobile vehicles were said to be empirical during the flood season.
Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said part of the RM50 million allocation announced by the Prime Minister would help address the need.
"The ministry will consider and give priority to the request as l was informed that the existing vehicles could not reach the difficult areas badly affected during the monsoon season.
"We realise the importance of improving health facilities in all the states which are affected by the monsoon floods.
"Therefore, we have already made the necessary preparations for the yearly monsoon season covering all aspects from manpower to logistics and assets," said Zaliha during a press conference after visiting Pasir Mas district health centre here today.
Also present were Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and Kelantan health director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin.
Staff were also instructed to monitor flood victims closely to ensure they were free of diseases, including Covid-19.
"Those tested positive for Covid-19 will be separated with other flood victims. This is to prevent the pandemic from spreading to others," she added.
