TUMPAT: Kelantan police have received over 10,000 reports on damages caused by the recent flood which struck the state.
State police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the reports were lodged by flood victims who were impacted by the natural disaster.
He said the most number of reports were lodged at the Pasir Puteh station with 2,879, followed by Bachok (2,132) and Pasir Mas (1,812).
Zaki said the majority of the reports were on property damage such as houses and vehicles as well as livestock.
"The police reports are important for the flood victims as they can be used in the event the victims want to claim damages," he said.
Zaki told this to reporters after handing over certificates of appreciation to Wakaf Bharu police station here today.
On the recent flood, he said the number of victims had increased drastically compared to previously.
"The second wave of flood which ended recently was huge.
"This is based on the number of people being evacuated involving 39,000 victims compared to the last flood," he added.
