KOTA BARU: Lebir river in Tualang, Kuala Krai, has breached the danger level today following heavy rains in the interior areas last night.

Kelantan Civil Defence Force (APM) director Colonel Mohd Adzhar Mujab said the river was recorded at 35.72m as of 4pm, 1.72m above the danger mark of 34m.

However, he said no one had been evacuated so far.

He said another river in Kelantan which is the Golok river also showed upward trend today.

"Golok river was measured at 8.66m, which is 0.66m above its warning level of 8m as of 4pm," he said in a statement.

Adzhar said the state APM would monitor the situation closely from time to time to prevent untoward incident.

"All our assets have been put on standby mode and will be deployed to flood-prone areas once another round of flood hits the state," he said.

Among the high-risk areas are Kampung Air Muleh, Kampung Lanchang, Kampung Tersang, Kampung Padang licin and Kampung Tok Deh, he said.

Apart from monitoring the locations, he said the APM members would also conduct regular checks at the flood assessment points.
