JOHOR BARU: The Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) has become the first local authority in the country to use a fully digital parking management application through MBJB Spot V2.
MBJB mayor Datuk Mohd Noorazam Osman said the improvement of the application from the previous 'MBJB Spot' application saw the addition of several functions, in particular the application for reserved bays for hawkers and business premises online, as well as the incorporation of closed circuit television (CCTV) around MBJB in one application only.
"This application which now has about 400,000 registered users, also allows account owners to make payments for third parties who do not have an account by registering their vehicle number in the owner's account and make payments online.
"In addition, this application is also integrated with the i-Traffic system, which helps road users find out the traffic flow situation in the city centre, so that they can plan their journey to avoid traffic jams," he said when addressing the full MBJB meeting here, today.
MBJB city residents are advised to download the application because all parking matters under the MBJB administration have been fully digitalised and there will be no more use of parking coupons from June 1, this year, said Mohd Noorazam.
He added that MBJB will install an additional 500 CCTV units at hot spots around the city, this year whereas 300 units have already been installed thus far.
Meanwhile, in a separate matter, MBJB issued 2,896 festival bazaar organising licences for Ramadan and Aidilfitri, said MBJB Secretary Miswan Yunus.
"A total of 1,030 are issued for public sites in MBJB while the rest are bazaars and sites organised by private parties," said Miswan who was present on behalf of the MBJB Mayor. -- BERNAMA
