Pickup driver fined for car park crash in Johor Baru

JOHOR BARU: A pickup truck driver was fined after being caught on video appearing nonchalant following a crash in a parking lot along Jalan Adda 3/1 on Nov 28.

Johor Baru (South) police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said the 21-year-old driver lost control of his 4x4 while exiting the parking area at 12.26 pm, crashing into the front bumper of a Perodua Myvi driven by a 45-year-old woman.

There were no injuries reported, but both vehicles sustained damages, with the Myvi's front-end extensively damaged, including its bumper, bonnet, right headlight, right fender, and panel, while the 4x4 had minor damages on its left rear fender.

The 4x4 driver was issued a summons for losing control of the vehicle, Raub said.

Earlier, a 30-second clip was uploaded on social media showing the pickup driver acting indifferent when confronted by a man about the accident.

The driver simply got into his vehicle, and while exiting the car park, he crashed into the Myvi and drove off.
