KUALA LUMPUR: A video of several individuals, believed to be passengers of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) aerotrain, walking on a platform between a train track, went viral today.
It was believed that the footage was related to a breakdown on Wednesday that involved 114 passengers.
From the footage, one of the passengers was heard saying that no explanation was given to them while they were stranded on the track.
Several airport staff later brought some umbrellas for them as they walked toward the Satellite Terminal.
"They should revise (their) emergency plan," said the passenger.
The 40-second video, uploaded by Twitter user @khalidkarim has garnered 12,800 views so far.
A Twitter user, @happypankaj said: "The whole Malaysia Airport board ought to be sacked while the CEO (chief executive officer) dismissed. Total failure."
Others also blasted the airport operator for the incident which they said had brought shame to the country.
Earlier today, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) announced that it has suspended its aerotrain operations at KLIA until further notice.
The 3pm breakdown on Wednesday involved 114 passengers with 10 of them were said to have missed their flights.
Several breakdowns have occured in the past including on Dec 2015 and Sept 2017.
MAHB is expected to obtain new trains by 2025 under the RM700 million aerotrain replacement programme.
