Bersatu information chief lodges police report against Anwar, Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu information chief Datuk Razali Idris has lodged a police report against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his deputy Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi over their allegations against Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Razali claimed that Anwar was misusing his power by pressuring the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate Bersatu leaders and damage the party's reputation.

Additionally, Razali alleged that Anwar and Ahmad Zahid aimed to weaken Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional ahead of the upcoming state elections in six states.

"On Dec 6, Anwar claimed that Muhyiddin's government had misappropriated RM600 billion in funds which were meant for various stimulus packages.

"This is clearly a false accusation as this RM600 billion figure was later lowered to RM530 billion, RM92.5 billion, RM4.5 billion and finally to RM300 million," he said.

Razali further said Zahid, in his speech at Umno's general assembly in January, had said there would be a "court cluster" involving Perikatan Nasional and Bersatu leaders, though investigations had yet to be concluded then.

"This is clear evidence that there exists an evil conspiracy against Muhyiddin, PN and Bersatu."

The MACC, in February, froze Bersatu's bank accounts. This then led to the arrest and charging of party leaders Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad a few weeks later.

They were charged with allegedly soliciting and accepting bribes in relation to the Jana Wibawa initiative, a programme intended to help Bumiputera businesses amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Earlier this month, Muhyiddin was charged with four counts of abuse of power and three counts of money laundering.
