JOHOR BARU: Investigations into the alleged scandal surrounding the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) will see more individuals, including VIPs, summoned to facilitate the ongoing investigations.
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said these individuals will be called in soon to have their statements recorded in connection with the ongoing LCS investigations.
"We will not hesitate to record statements of suspected individuals who are believed involved. Investigations are done without fear or favour despite their status as VIPs," Azmi said after officiating the MACC Officers' Basic Training Course passing out parade ceremony held at the state office complex, here in Tampoi today."MACC will not exempt anyone or protect any involved parties. More individuals are expected to provide their statements, including those residing overseas," he said when asked to comment on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's statement that investigation into the LCS project must be continued.
Azam assured that investigations are ongoing to establish how funds of such a magnitude project are allegedly mismanaged.The LCS project is a RM9-billion naval programme aimed at procuring combat vessels to strengthen the country and navy's defences.
On Wednesday, NST reported that Anwar wanted MACC to continue its investigations into the LCS projectMACC's investigation of the Jana Wibawa programme, Azam said that investigations are underway, with two more investigation papers opened.
