Cebu Pacific Air plane makes emergency landing at KKIA [NSTTV]

KOTA KINABALU: An Airbus A320, belonging to Cebu Pacific Air, made an emergency landing at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) after it was believed to have suffered an engine problem, last night.

The plane, carrying 92 passengers and crew, took off from Cebu in the Philippines at 7.55pm and was believed to have experienced a problem with it's left engine during flight.

Following that, the pilot decided to land at KKIA at 10.22pm.

It is understood that the plane is scheduled to land in Singapore at midnight.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the department was alerted by the KKIA Airport Fire and Rescue Service at 9.49pm.

A team was then deployed to the location to assess the situation.

"Everything was under control and the plane landed safely. All the passengers and crew are safe." the spokesman said.
