Anwar says he is open to questions on political funds for PKR [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he was open to any investigation on political funding received or given to PKR.

He also acknowledged that there was a need for a comprehensive legislation on political funding issues in the country.

"I am open to any questions of investigation on funds received by PKR.

"At the same time, we also need a law on political funds to parties," he said during the Prime Minister's question time in Dewan Rakyat today.

On a related matter, Anwar said enforcement authorities were not just focussed on the Opposition as there were individuals from the government side who were being probed too.

"I don't know who they are or (what) their position is but I have been informed that there is an investigation involving individuals from the opposition and government bloc.

"Whether or not there will be prosecution done towards these individuals is up to the discretion of the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC)," he said in response to a supplementary question from Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (Perikatan Nasional-Rantau Panjang).
