KUALA LUMPUR: A boutique owner in Pasir Gudang, Johor is receiving encouraging demand after a day of launching her own line of 'Baju Raya Rahmah' for both adult and children sold at RM15 per set.
Nur Fildza Ezleen Salimi, 23, who owns the Manjalara Fashion Design boutique owner, has only opened her shop for a month.
She said she obtained her stock of fair price baju kurung from various suppliers nationwide and from relatives who wanted to dispose of their new clothes.
Nur Fildza said as soon as they were sold and publicised on social media yesterday, more than 100 customers inquired about them and made purchases.
"Previously, I did my business online before opening the shop in February. I am selling this clothes line of the RM15 'Baju Raya Rahmah' to help consumers who may be affected by the tough economy.
"These customers are not poor, but they simply cannot afford a set of baju raya which could costs an average of RM200 to RM300 per set nowadays.
"When you look at the 'Baju Raya Rahmah' I am selling, you will see it has geometric patterns and come in varying sizes. These are brand new clothes, and not pre-loved," she said when met at Taman Kota Masai, Pasir Gudang.
She said the line of baju kurung comprise those with latest designs. Some of them are sourced from other boutiques, while others were obtained from her extended family.
"There were relatives who donated some of the yet-to-be worn clothes, probably because the size didn't fit them. Most of these clothes still have price tags on them."
She said she feels content in helping the people to buy clothes at affordable prices. She said the best part was when she sees the smiles on her satisfied customers.
"I will make sure the racks are always filled with Baju Raya Rahmah," said Nur Fildza, who is the second of six siblings.
