Only 38 out of 717 PWD projects identified as 'sick' [NSTTV]

MACHANG: The Public Works Department (PWD) has identified 31 "sick" projects out of the 717 under its purview nationwide, said Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad.

He said the government was monitoring these 38 projects in several states, including in Pahang and Kelantan.

"These projects have been labelled as 'sick' due to construction delays by about 20 per cent.

"Among the 38 projects, one is in Kelantan, and they include the construction of roads and building.

"The number of sick projects is relatively low, representing only three percent of the total 717 handled by the PWD," he said, adding that 97 per cent of the projects had been completed.

He was speaking to the press after the handover ceremony of five health clinics at Kampung Mata Ayer today.

Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa and state Health Director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin were present.

Rahman gave an assurance that the government had not neglected Kelantan's development.

"The government has always been concerned about Kelantan's development.

"While some claim that the state has been left out, it is not true. The government has treated Kelantan like any other state," he added.
