44 pct of registered voters in upcoming state elections between age 21 and 39

PUTRAJAYA: A bulk of some nine million registered voters expected to cast their ballots during the Aug 12 state elections are between 21 and 39 years old.

According to statistics released by the Election Commission (EC), a total of 9,773,571 registered voters are expected to cast their ballots during the state elections in Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan and Terengganu.

Of the total, 2,169,120 of them are those aged between 21 and 29 followed by 2,164,982 aged between 30 and 39.

People aged between 40 and 49 are the third highest number of voters expected to vote during the state polls at 1,695,876 followed by 1,380,446 registered voters aged between 50 and 59.

A total of 661,905 registered voters in the upcoming state polls are those aged between 18 and 20.

Of the six states, Selangor has the highest number of registered voters at 3,747,057, followed by 1,585,085 in Kedah, 1,411,912 in Kelantan and 1,234,198 in Penang. There are a total of 930,894 registered voters in Terengganu and 864,425 in Negri Sembilan.
