'She was engrossed with cleaning our mother's house'

KOTA BARU: "Allah, grant me the best in everything, and make all things easy for me."

Those were the final words in a WhatsApp status shared by the late victim crushed by a fallen tree, Nik Amirah Nik Ab Rahman, 40, who tragically passed away last night along with her husband, Nik Mohd Zulmi Ramli, 44, and their 5-year-old daughter, Nik Aishah Azzahra.

The status was shared by her friend on Facebook, along with condolences for the unfortunate incident that befell the woman and her family.

Her sister, Nik Atikah Nik Ab Rahman, 35, said that the victim was the eldest sibling among eight, living near Kok Lanas Secondary School.

She said, two days before the incident, Nik Amirah was busy cleaning their mother's house in Kampung Badak.

"She was caring and kind, a good daughter. But for the past few days, she was engrossed in cleaning our mother's house.

"Coincidentally, our mother was in Kuala Lumpur for a relative's funeral. This time, she was thoroughly cleaning the house, planning to mop the floors tomorrow," she said at the site in Kampung Bukit Cina, Kok Lanas, last night.

She added that her sister worked as an accountant at the National Audit Department in Bandar Baru Tunjung, while her brother-in-law worked at the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) in Pasir Mas.

Meanwhile, Kota Bharu district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud said that all the victims' bodies were taken to Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) for post-mortem examination.

He mentioned that further investigation is ongoing, and the case is classified as a sudden death.

In the incident that occurred at 8.04pm last night, three family members lost their lives, while two others were injured after the car they were in collided with a tree, also hitting another vehicle.

On the other hand, the driver and passengers of the Honda City car, driven by Shamsiemon Mukhtar, 53, along with his wife, Jahnilawati Mohd Zain, 52, and their three children, Muhammad Aliff, 26; Muhammad Aiman, 23, and Isyatul Amalin, 20, survived the crash but were injured .

The incident is believed to have occurred during heavy rain and a storm as both vehicles were travelling from Machang to Kota Baru.
