Suhaily to be federal CID director, four months after becoming KL police chief

KUALA LUMPUR: City police chief, Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, is set to become the new federal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director.

Suhaily, who had previously served as the Penang police chief, had assumed the role of city police chief on May 15.

His ascension to the CID director role would mean that Suhaily is set to be the shortest-serving KL police chief at less than four months.

It is understood that he is set to assume his new role before August 30.

The CID director role fell vacant after Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, the last person to hold the post, was appointed as Deputy Inspector-General of Police on June 23.

The city police chief role, meanwhile, looks set to be taken over by Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) deputy director Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed the movements.
