KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Inspector General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said there were no untowards incidents in the state election in Selangor so far.
When met by the media during a press conference at the SK Klang Gates polling centre here, he urged for party supporters to abide the law.
"I have visited six polling centres in Bandar Baru Bangi, Kajang, Ampang and here (in Hulu Kelang).
"Alhamdulillah, the voting process has been smooth," he said.
However, he said a minor incident happened at the SMK Melawati polling centre when a voter wore an outfit with the Selangor state emblem, which led to some confusion.
However, he said the Election Commission had addressed the matter.
He called upon party supporters to abide by the law and think rationally throughout the voting process.
"I call on all especially the party supporters who are involved in these six state elections to think rationally and not follow emotions.
"If there is any violation of the law, we will definitely take action."
He said 35,000 police officers and personnel were currently on duty in the six state elections.
"For Selangor, 5,526 personnel have been assigned at all voting centres. I also urge for everyone who are eligible to vote to come out and fulfil their duty," he said.
Selangor and five other states are having state polls today after a 14-day campaign period.
