KUALA LUMPUR: Prominent security-based information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider Datasonic Group Bhd (Datasonic), and renowned tertiary institution for digital technology Multimedia University (MMU) are collaborating in the fields of digital innovation, education and research.
The two entities signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the 2023 Cyber Digital Services, Defence and Security Asia Expo and Conference (CyberDSA) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here today.
The MoU was signed by Datasonic president Datuk Abu Hanifah Noordin and MMU president Prof Datuk Dr Mazliham Mohd Su'ud.
"The partnership between Datasonic and MMU represents a significant stride forward in cultivating innovation, research and education in the fields of digital technology," said Abu Hanifah in a press statement today.
Also present were Datasonic executive director Chia Kok Khuang and MMU Academic and Innovative Learning vice-president Prof Dr Wong Hin Yong.
The MoU signifies a joint commitment to explore and assess the feasibility of collaborative projects in several key areas of mutual interest.
These areas include the formation of a Joint Research Group focusing on Digital Identity, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Metaverse.
Additionally, plans are in place to establish a dedicated Metaverse Research and Development Lab within the premises of MMU.
The agreement entails provisions for students to benefit from internship opportunities, career development prospects and financial assistance programmes aimed at enhancing their practical exposure and academic growth.
Both organisations are also committed to upskilling and reskilling initiatives that address the evolving demands of the digital landscape.
The partnership will create a holistic ecosystem where cutting-edge research and hands-on experiences intersect, fostering a new generation of digitally adept professionals who are well-equipped to shape the future of technology, said the statement.
