Friendship at sea: China-Malaysia naval exchange strengthened as PLA ship anchors in Port Klang [NSTTV]

PORT KLANG: A reception was held on board the People's Liberation Army (PLA) destroyer Nanning, which docked at Port Klang.

The ship, part of Escort Task Group 162 is on a three-day visit to the country was welcomed by Assistant Chief of Staff Operations and Strategy of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Rear Admiral Datuk Ee Tai Peng yesterday.

He met China Navy Senior Captain Zhao Lang, commander of Escort Task Group 162.

Also present was Senior Colonel Zhang Ge, Defence Attaché at the China Embassy in Malaysia.

The Nanning, a Type 052D guided-missile destroyer was accompanied by a frigate and a supply ship.

The ship's welcoming reception onboard included a Chinese cultural show, a martial arts display and singing performances for guests.

A rendition of the '21 Guns' song which was spontaneously performed by navy personnel of both countries stole the show, receiving applause from the guests.
