New Kedah exco members committed to achieving The Greater Kedah vision

ALOR STAR: The new Kedah state executive councillors (exco members) are committed to providing the finest service to Kedahans and the state government in order to realise The Greater Kedah vision.

State Industry and Investment, Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation committee chairman Professor Dr Haim Hilman Abdullah said he relished the responsibility of attracting more investment and development for the people's benefits.

Hilman, who is also former Universiti Utara Malaysia vice-chancellor, expressed his commitment to maintain strategic relationships with local and international agencies in executing planned projects aligned with Kedah Development Plan 2035.

"Undoubtedly, investment, development, and higher education are crucial to bring about economic prosperity and well-being for the people and the state. We will harness the existing resources in Kedah to the fullest extent, alongside identifying new sources.

"I am dedicated to providing the best service to the people and state, ensuring the ongoing development of this beloved state in line with the aspirations of The Greater Kedah," he said in a statement yesterday.

Meanwhile, State Human Resources, Chinese, India and Siamese Community, and Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) committee chairman Wong Chia Zhen pledged that he would not neglect minority voices in the state.

"As the people's representative, going to the ground and meeting with the people is part of my responsibility. I will sincerely and courageously bring their voices to exco meetings and state legislative assembly sessions," he said when contacted.

Wong, who is the sole Gerakan assemblyman, also vowed to focus on the Kedah Development Plan 2035 by improving Kedahan's living standards.

"The plan's narrative is crucial to ensure that we make Kedah return to its glory days. Efforts within this portfolio will be directed towards turning this vision into reality," he added.

Yesterday, 10 assemblymen were sworn in as Kedah state exco members before the Sultan of Kedah, Al Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah at Balai Menghadap Besar, Istana Anak Bukit.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, the Perikatan Nasional (PN) state administration has a total of 11 exco members, including Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
