KUALA LUMPUR: Muar member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman is expected to pull his support for the government in the Dewan Rakyat.
An online portal, quoting a source, said an official announcement on the matter would be made later today, ahead of the Parliament special sitting for a mid-term review of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) starting tomorrow.
The source told MalaysiaKini that Syed Saddiq, who is also Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) president, had already sent a letter to the Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul at noon today.
The source said the letter was to inform the speaker that he would be part of the opposition.
"However, Muda will not join Perikatan Nasional. YB (Syed Saddiq) will be the third force.
"Muda continues to support the government agenda when voting (in the Dewan Rakyat) on constitutional and institutional reforms," the portal quoted the source as saying.
Without Muda's sole representative, Pakatan Harapan and allies only have 147 seats in Parliament - one short of a two-thirds majority.
On Tuesday, the Muda president threatened to withdraw support to the unity government if the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) did not explain in detail their stance to discharge Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's 47 charges.
