Yaba pills remain top drug sought by Kelantan addicts

KOTA BARU: Methamphetamine pills or locally known as Yaba pills continue to be the top drug sought by addicts in Kelantan despite its price increase recently.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said this was based on the series of seizure on methamphetamine pills made by the state police.

He said one methamphetami pill now costs RM11 at local market, one ringgit more than previously.

"Despite increase checks by the police and other enforcement agencies against drug smuggling along Kelantan/Thai border, smuggling of the pills still rampantly occurs.

"Although its price is RM11 now, demand for the pill is still high," he told a Press conference here today.

Zaki said he believed the pills were sought by local addicts as they were.easy to obtain and to consume.

"Stocks for the drugs are always ready and suppliers will ensure local addicts will get it on time," he added.

On the move by certain addicts to mix Coke drink with ketum juice, Zaki said the state police had yet to discover it.

"However, this is not new as we have detected addicts who have mixed their drinks with other 'ingredients' to make it more effective.

"Some of them even have mixed codeine to their drinks," he added.
