GOF foils attempt to smuggle RM3.2 mil worth of Yaba pills in Kelantan

TUMPAT: The General Operations Force (GOF) thwarted an attempt by drug traffickers to smuggle and distribute 216,000 Yaba pills, worth about RM3.2 million, into the country last night.

The pills, weighing 25kg, were seized when a team from the Southeast Brigade GOF spotted a group of men acting suspiciously near the Golok River in Kampung Laut at around 10pm.

Southeast Brigade GOF Commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said no arrests were made as the suspects managed to evade his team leaving behind several boxes containing the pills.

"After checking the boxes, the officers found 216,000 pills worth about RM3.2 million," he said.

He added that the pills, smuggled from Thailand, were believed to be intended for local distribution.

In another development, he said the GOF seized 384 bottles of cosmetic products worth RM78,000 in Rantau Panjang last night.

No arrests were made in the 7.30pm operation at the Pok Dik illegal jetty.

"The cosmetic products were smuggled from Thailand for distribution in the local market," he added.
