2,200 yaba pills worth RM33,000 seized in Kelantan raid

KOTA BARU: The General Operations Force (GOF) arrested a man and seized 2,200 yaba (methamphetamine) pills worth approximately RM33,000 in Bukit Marak on Saturday (Oct 19).

GOF Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said a motorcycle and RM1,174 in cash were also confiscated during the operation.

He said a GOF team spotted the suspect on a motorcycle passing through Kampung Mentera Banggu around 4.30pm.

"Upon checking the motorcyclist, they found yaba pills inside his sling bag. The money and a mobile phone were also seized from the man," he said in a statement today (Oct 21).

He added that the 41-year-old suspect, a known drug addict, has been handed over to Kota Baru police for further investigation.

In a separate incident, GOF arrested another man and seized 660 litres of petrol worth RM2,200 in Kampung Terusan, Rantau Panjang, yesterday (Oct 20).

The 23-year-old suspect was detained during a raid on a store at 2.45am.

"The petrol is believed to be en route to being smuggled to Thailand via an illegal jetty near the store," he added.
