KUALA LUMPUR: The second phase of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Ampang/Sri Petaling Line operations is expected to be fully completed by Feb 29, 2024.
Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd (Rapid Rail), in a statement today, said the initial plan for upgrading the rail structures would be ready by mid-October.
"However, the extension of this time is necessary as, apart from the initial damage to viaduct 163, several other damages have been detected in nearby viaduct structures, namely viaducts 164 and 165, which require comprehensive repairs.
"After receiving views and advice from consulting engineers, additional work is required on these structures to ensure their safety, compliance with specifications, and the ability to meet normal operational criteria," it said, adding that this additional work has extended the restoration timeline by 3 months.
It stated the expected completion would be subject to analysis and approval by the relevant authorities.
"Rapid Rail apologises for the inconvenience experienced by users. The decision to extend the restoration work timeline is to ensure that all damages can be identified and rectified, thereby ensuring the safety of public transportation operations and users." it said.
