Car skids, falls six metres down hillside injuring three

BALIK PULAU: Three women, including an Indonesian national, were injured when the car they were travelling in skidded and fell six metres down a hillside at Jalan Pondok Upeh here this morning.

The Seri Balik Pulau Fire and Rescue Department was alerted to the incident at about 10.42am.

Operations officer Nasir Sameon said when they arrived at the scene, they found a Toyota Avanza involved in the accident.

He said the vehicle skidded and veered off the hill.

"Three women, aged between their 20s and 30s, inside the vehicle, were injured.

"We managed to rescue them before handing them over to paramedics who arrived shortly," he said.

The operation ended at 11.55am.

The incident happened about a week after a van with 10 Singaporean tourists skidded and fell into a 6m-deep ravine while descending a slope in Jalan Teluk Kumbar-Bukit Genting here.

One of them died at the scene while nine others were injured.

Also injured was the van driver, a local man.
