Rescued female Langkawi Ironman participant fights for life in ICU

ALOR STAR: A female participant in the Langkawi Ironman event is in critical condition at the Sultanah Maliha Hospital following a near-drowning incident earlier today.

The victim has been identified as Muhaini Mahmud, a resident of Kuala Lumpur, as indicated in a Facebook post made by her niece, Nafisah Hani, around 8pm.

In her heartfelt post, Nafisah is reaching out to friends, requesting their prayers for Muhaini, who is currently in critical condition at the Sultanah Maliha Hospital's intensive care unit.

Checks on Muhaini's social media account showed that she is a co-founder of Kiddocaremy and a former director of corporate affairs at the Weststar Group.

Earlier today, Langkawi police chief Assistant Commissioner Shariman Ashari said three Ironman Langkawi participants - two men and a woman were rescued while participating in a swimming discipline at Pantai Kok.

He was reported as saying they were rushed to Sultanah Maliha Hospital, with one losing consciousness.
