GEORGE TOWN: A chemical spill was detected in a laboratory at the Teacher's Training Insitute (IPG) here this afternoon.
The Jalan Perak fire and rescue station was alerted to the incident at about 4.48pm.
Operations officer Fauzian Izzuan Abdullah said when they arrived at the scene they found the chemical spill involved 500ml of Sodium Dihydrogen.
"The chemical spill was from 10 bottles inside a laboratory.
"Firemen from the Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) Unit cleaned the chemical spill," he said.
It is learnt the chemical spill was caused by a cat which had entered the laboratory before it was realised by the laboratory assistant who called for help.
