ALOR STAR: Residents of several villages in Jitra were taken aback when a landspout was spotted in the area this evening.
However, according to the Civil Defence Force, only one house was damaged in the 6pm incident, as the weather pattern swept through the nearby padi fields.
The phenomenon was visible from kilometres away, with reports of sightings coming in from villagers in Kampung Kun Luang, Kampung Asun and Kampung Bukit Berangan.
A Facebook user, Wira WeAre uploaded a compilation of videos recorded by residents in a 'Saya Orang Jitra' page, drawing comments from those who witnessed the incident.
On Oct 29, it was reported that 10 houses in Kampung Pida 2 in Manggol Bonggor, Jerlun were destroyed by a landspout incident.
State Malaysia Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) director Khalil Abd Aziz had stated that weather patterns occurring during the Monsoon Transition Period between September and November, brewed up the storm and landspout.
