PUTRAJAYA: The Transport Ministry (MOT) has instructed Prasarana Malaysia Bhd to submit a detailed report regarding the power outage experienced by the Putrajaya MRT line yesterday.
Its minister, Anthony Loke Siew Fook regretted the incident, as the MRT line has only been operating for less than a year.
"Disruptions, technical issues, or problems must be taken seriously by both MRT Corp and Prasarana. MOT has requested a full report to be presented in the post-cabinet meeting.
"Since the Putrajaya Line is still within the defect liability period, we will refer back to the contractor, MMC Gamuda, to determine the root cause of the power supply disruption.
"I have been informed by Prasarana that our technical team was on-site to address the issue," Loke said.
MRT Putrajaya Route experienced a power supply disruption yesterday between Conlay and Chan Sow Lin Stations around 5.50 pm, causing two trains in the affected area to be immobilised.
Alternative rail and free shuttle bus services were provided to ease the situation.
RapidKL, in a statement on their Facebook page yesterday around 11pm, said the trains have returned to normal operations.
"Repairs to power supply disruptions have been completed. Alternative train and free shuttle bus services have been discontinued. Train services are operating as usual," the statement read.
Phase one of the MRT Putrajaya Line was launched last year on June 16. The line became fully operational in March.
