'Coldplay linked to LGBT; don't go to their concert' says Federal Territories Mufti

KUALA LUMPUR: The Coldplay: Music of Spheres Concert, here, next week should be called off for their links to support the LGBT movement, the Federal Territories Mufti said.

In a Facebook post, Dr Luqman Abdullah said the public should also refrain from supporting such programmes which are clearly against the morals and culture of the people in this country.

"For the Muslim community, it is necessary to understand that entertainment in Islam has limitations that must be observed and any type of entertainment outside of these limits is against shariah law.

"The organisation of this programme does not benefit the community in this country.

"Furthermore, this music group is associated with an immoral movement promoting LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender)," he added.

In the same post, Luqman also shared the entertainment guidelines set by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department and advised the public to refer to these regulations.

A crowd of 85,000 is expected to fill the Bukit Jalil National Stadium for the British band.

Coldplay's world tour series began in March last year, and the group has set records as one of the top-selling and highest-grossing artists in the world.

In Malaysia, tickets for the 'Coldplay concert: Music Of The Spheres World Tour' ranged from RM228 to RM3,088 and were 'snapped up' by their dedicated fans within just three hours after they went on sale on May 17.
