Sultan Ibrahim confers 'Datukship' on Johor menteri besar and four others

JOHOR BARU: The Sultan of Johor bestowed the "Most Exalted Order of Sultan Ibrahim Johor" award which carries the title Datuk, to the Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, in an investiture ceremony commemorating His Majesty's 65th birthday, today.

The ceremony was held at the Istana Besar, near here.

Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar also conferred the "Dato' Mulia Sultan Ibrahim Johor"" award, which also carries the title Datuk, to Johor police chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat, state Deputy Secretary Ismail Abu, state Chief Syariah Court Judge Datuk Muhammad Khaldun Mohamad Sharif and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Ruzairi Abdul Rahim.

The ceremony was witnessed by the Permaisuri of Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah, Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and his consort Che' Puan Besar Khaleeda, and the Royal Family

In March 2019, the state government amended the ruler's official birthday date from Nov 22 to March 23.

March 23 is in conjunction with the ruler's coronation. The public holiday on Nov 22 was withdrawn, and replaced with March 23.
