Zayn Rayyan's grandfather speaks out: 'Stop speculating, saying hurtful things about his mother'

PETALING JAYA: The family of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin who was found dead has asked netizens to refrain from making remarks about the case that may offend them.

Zayn Rayyan's grandfather, Zahari Mohd Reba, said to let the police issue the statements.

Zahari, 55 said the deceased was his beloved eldest grandson and requested the public to stop making inaccurate statements about his daughter's child.

He also expressed hope for the swift arrest of the perpetrator after reading the news about the police finding fingerprint and DNA evidence.

"My daughter always tried to fulfil Zayn's wishes every day; whatever Zayn wanted, she would make it happen.

"My grandson, if his father drove, would stay awake to accompany him while the mother and sibling slept," he said when contacted today.

He added that, if there was free time on Saturdays, he would take his grandson for a walk as they were very close.

"My grandson is close to me, and he enjoys bathing by the sea or in a pool and hiking. I love hiking, and that's why I nurtured his talent for outdoor activities," he said.

Earlier, Zahari, through his Facebook, appealed to the public not to make inaccurate statements that hurt his family's feelings.

"Greetings to everyone out there, on behalf of the late Zayn's family, I request you not to make inaccurate statements that hurt our family's feelings.

"Every day, our family faces emotional disturbances; Zayn Rayyan was our beloved grandson," he said.

Previously, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed Zayn Rayyan's death as a murder case after a forensic examination revealed injuries on the child's neck and body.

Zayn Rayyan's body was discovered near a stream about 200m from his home in Apartment Idaman, Damansara Damai, around 10 pm last Wednesday.

"I urge netizens not to make statements that may offend the feelings of the deceased's family and let the police (PDRM) issue statements. As long as there are no official statements, netizens; please refrain from making remarks," said Zahari Mohd Reba, the father of the autistic boy, Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, 6, who was found dead due to homicide.
