IPOH: The body of a man was found infested with maggots inside a car parked on the premises of a used car dealership in Pasir Puteh, here, today.
The unidentified body was discovered lying in the back seat of a black Proton Wira with the doors locked from the inside.
Ipoh police chief, Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan, said they received information about the incident at 11.51am yesterday.
He said that further examination, however, revealed no signs of foul play.
"The body was found fully clothed, decomposed, and infested with maggots. No additional details about the deceased were obtained, such as name, identification, ethnicity, age, and occupation, except that the body was identified as male," he said when contacted.
According to him, physical examination of the deceased could not be conducted due to its blackened and maggot-infested condition.
He stated that the body was taken to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) Forensic Department for identification, including fingerprinting, with the post-mortem process scheduled for Monday.
Yahaya said the case is currently classified as a sudden death (SDR).
