KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended Thaipusam greetings to all Hindus in Malaysia ahead of the celebration tomorrow.
In a statement through his Facebook page today, the prime minister hoped this year's festival would be celebrated vibrantly with family and loved ones.
"Wishing a joyful Thaipusam celebration to our Hindu friends. May this year's festivities be even more vibrant alongside your family and loved ones.
"We will continue working to ensure Malaysia remains safe, peaceful and that the values of diversity are strengthened," he said.
Thaipusam marks the day when, according to Hindu belief, the goddess Parvathi bestowed Lord Muruga with a 'vel' (spear) to vanquish demons.
