KUANTAN: Motorcycles will rumble through the state capital on Friday for the inaugural RXZ Fighter event.
Enthusiasts from the far-flung corners of the country are expected to make a beeline for the two-day event at Serambi Teruntum in Tanjung Lumpur here.
State Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisations Committee chairman Fadzli Mohamad Kamal said more than 40,000 participants were expected for the event.
"Participants are scheduled to arrive on Friday morning before taking part in a wide range of activities, including religious forum, road safety seminars by the police and Road Transport Department, entertainment by live bands and motorcycle technical programmes.
"On March 2, motorcycle enthusiasts will perform Subuh prayers at two nearby mosques. The event is not just about RXZ motorcycles, as members of the public who attend the programme can visit food stalls and booths set up at Serambi Teruntum," he told reporters.
Fadzli said RXZ Fighters had created economic spillover benefits, with homestays here inundated with bookings.
"The event has seen a rise in demand for accomodation and some might even choose to set up tents at Teluk Cempedak or Kempadang during their stay.
"The participants will eat out and visit popular places here... if everything goes smoothly, there will be another event next year and maybe go on to become an annual affair," he said.
Fadzli said organisers Pahang Sports Council had sought advice from enforcement agencies, including the police, to ensure safety before, during and after the event.
"Although, this is an event to celebrate youths and the biking community, road safety has to be adhered to at all times. I hope participants will keep in mind that safety should be a priority during their ride to the event in Kuantan," he said.
Fadzli said he would be join an RXZ motorcycle convoy to the closing ceremony on Saturday evening.
He said there would be lucky draw, with the grand prize of a Ducati Panigale V4S superbike worth more than RM150,000, and two RXZ machines worth RM60,000.
