Police roadblocks to 'welcome' 80,000 RX-Z riders to Terengganu event [WATCH]

KUALA TERENGGNAU: Police will mount more roadblocks ahead of the RX-Z Members 6.0 event at the Terengganu Motor Circuit in Gong Badak, Kuala Nerus, on Sept 13 and 14.

Terengganu Police Chief Datuk Mohd Khairi Khairudin said the measure is to ensure participants follow the laws and maintain public order.

He added that patrols will be conducted in each district day and night, particularly in residential areas, while roadblocks will be set up at various locations in Kuala Terengganu.

"A total of 101 police officers and 50 Road Transport Department (RTD) officers will be assigned to the event," he said at a press conference at the Terengganu Police Headquarters today.

The event is expected to attract around 80,000 participants from across the country. The assignment and planning aim to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety at the event site.

When asked about the possibility of large-scale roadblocks like last year, Mohd Khairi assured that it would not happen but hoped all participants would comply with the rules.

"However, roadblocks will be set up in 'hot spots'," he said.

Additionally, Mohd Khairi said that the main road at the Terengganu Motor Circuit will be closed during the event, allowing only motorcycles to enter to avoid traffic congestion and maintain public order.

Regarding last year's RX-Z Member 5.0 accident statistics, he said there were four accidents—three in Kemaman and one in Hulu Terengganu.

During that period, the Terengganu Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department issued 292 summonses as part of Op Khas Motosikal.

RTD Terengganu also issued 311 summonses for various offenses and impounded 111 motorcycles, he added.

Participants are reminded to follow regulations, including ensuring vehicle registration numbers meet standards, not modifying exhausts, and stopping at roadblocks for authority checks, he said.

Vehicles without insurance, expired road tax, drivers without licenses, or expired licenses will not be allowed to participate in the event.

"I welcome the RX-Z Member 6.0 participants to Terengganu but remind everyone to adhere to traffic laws," Mohd Khairi said.
