Muhammad Shah Firdaus and Nurul Syasya Nadiah crowned Johor's sportsman and sportswoman of 2023

JOHOR BARU: Johor celebrated its top athletes at the 30th Johor Sports Awards, held at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre, where cycling champion Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom and sharpshooter Nurul Syasya Nadiah Arifin were respectively crowned the Sportsman and Sportswoman of Johor for the year 2023, Media Digital Johor reported.

Shah Firdaus, from Muar, achieved this recognition following his outstanding performance at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, replicating his success from 2019 when he was also named Johor's Sportsman of the Year.

Nurul Syasya, a native of Batu Pahat, secured her title through her gold medal victory at the 2022 SEA Games, alongside her exceptional participation in various shooting competitions throughout the year.

Both athletes were awarded trophies and a cash prize of RM7,000, presented by Chairman of the Johor Committee on Youth, Sports, Entrepreneurship Development, and Cooperatives Mohd Hairi Mad Shah.
