PENDANG: Raja Muda of Kedah Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Sultan Sallehuddin advised the Kedahans to stay vigilant and take appropriate precautions during the current hot and dry weather.
He advised the students to obey the teacher's instructions to avoid being exposed to the heat which can cause unwanted incidents.
"In the hot and dry weather, do not play outside, or near an open area. At school, I was made to understand that outdoor activities are reduced or halted," said Tengku Sarafudin.
He said this when presenting Back to School and Ihya Ramadan contribution by Tabung Amanah Sultan Kedah (TASK) to 300 recipients at Dewan Cenderawasih, here, today.
Previously, the Malaysian Meteorological Department said that six areas in Kedah would experience alert-level hot status, namely Langkawi Island, Kota Setar, Pendang, Baling, Pokok Sena and Sik.
The alert level refers to a daily maximum temperature of 35 to 37 degrees Celsius for at least three consecutive days.
Meanwhile, Tengku Sarafudin, who is also the TASK chairman, expressed hope that the assistance channelled to the recipients can help those from low-income groups prepare for the new school session and the Ramadan month.
One of the recipients, Nur Dini Nasuha Mohd Khairudin, a Year Five pupil from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kampung Chegar, expressed her gratitude to receive the assistance as it would help her family's expenses.
"It feels great to receive this contribution from the Raja Muda of Kedah, I am excited to attend school and I will study hard to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher," she told Bernama. – BERNAMA
