PETALING JAYA: The police will call three more witnesses to assist in the investigation of a director who claims a suitcase containing RM500,000 found at a shopping centre in Damansara belongs to him.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that there are several matters still under police investigation, including calling three more witnesses to come forward to give their statements.
"The three witnesses who will be called are friends of the director of the involved company," he told Harian Metro today.
Previously, it was reported that an individual claiming to be the owner of a suitcase containing RM500,000 found at a shopping centre in Damansara had finally come forward to give a statement. (https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2024/04/1032810/rm500k-cash-bag-owner...)
In his statement, the man, who is a director of a timber company, claimed to be unaware that the suitcase containing the money taken from his friend's apartment unit above the shopping centre in Damansara was not put into his vehicle.
The man said the suitcase was taken from his friend's house, who wanted to return the money after borrowing it last year for investment purposes.
On March 20, a security guard found a pink-and-white luggage bag filled with over half a million ringgit, which was left at a shopping mall's parking lot.
The bag, containing RM100, RM50, and RM10 notes, was then handed over to the police by the mall's security guard.
