Lumut helicopter crash: Bodies of 8 Muslim victims to be taken home after autopsy [NSTTV]

IPOH: The bodies of eight Muslim victims of yesterday's helicopter crash are expected to be taken to the 23rd Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment here for funeral prayers.

It is understood that the bodies will be then taken home to their respective hometowns.

Two Royal Malaysian Navy trucks were seen arriving at the Forensic Department courtyard of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) here this morning to transport the bodies of 10 officers and personnel who perished in the crash of two helicopters at the TLDM Lumut Base.

The trucks were seen carrying coffins entering the forensic area at around 8.45am to transport the victims' bodies after the completion of the autopsy process.

Meanwhile, two other victims, Lieutenant T Sivasutan, will be taken to his residence in Sitiawan for funeral arrangements, and Laskar Kelas I Joanna Felicia daughter of Rohna will be flown to Kuching, Sarawak.

The victims will be buried according to Malaysian Armed Forces customs.

The families of the victims were at the hospital courtyard as early as 7am.

Yesterday 10 crew members on board two helicopters were killed.

The helicopters collided during a mid-air manoeuvre in a flypast training for the RMN's 90th anniversary celebration.

The RMN has established an investigation board to probe the incident.
