KUALA LUMPUR: National football player Faisal Halim suffered second-degree burns on several parts of his body in the acid attack at a shopping mall in Damansara here earlier today.
Selangor Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship committee chairman Najwan Halimi said the national winger who is currently being treated at a private hospital in Petaling Jaya is in stable condition.
"Let us leave it to the police to investigate and bring the perpetrator to justice. I pray that Faisal is given strength and courage to face this ordeal and that he is granted a swift recovery.
"I was told by the management of Selangor FC that Faisal is being treated at a hospital.
"His condition is stable, but he has suffered second-degree burns on several parts of his body, including around the neck, shoulders, arms, and chest," Najwan said in a statement.
The attack on Faisal comes after an attack on another national footballer, Akhyar Rashid, earlier this week
Akhyar, who plays for Terengganu, was attacked after exiting his vehicle. He suffered injuries to his head and body and was treated at Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah in Terengganu.
His assailants also made off with his wallet and phone.
