KUALA MUDA: A man died while two others were injured in a three-vehicle collision near Kampung Sungai Tok Pawang, Bedong, here today.
Sungai Petani Fire and Rescue Department chief Ismail Mohd Zain said a rescue team was dispatched to the scene promptly after receiving distress calls at 8.08am.
"Upon arrival at the location, it was found that the accident involved three vehicles, namely a Toyota Hilux, Honda City, and a Perodua Myvi.
"The Honda City driver was already taken to the hospital by bystanders, while the Toyota Hilux driver, a man in his 50s, was trapped and injured.
"Meanwhile, the Myvi driver, 47, was trapped and critically injured, and confirmed dead at the scene," he said in a statement today.
Ismail added that the victims had to be extricated from their vehicles using special equipment.
"The survivor was sent to the hospital for further treatment while the victim's body was handed over to the police for further action," he added.
