KKB by-election: Voter turnout not likely related to voter's fatigue, says Selangor PH chairman

KUALA KUBU BAHARU: The drop in the voter turnout for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election is expected, said Selangor Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

"I am not so sure if it has anything to do with voter's fatigue.

"However, I am sure that every by-elections and elections have their own dynamics and vibes.

"I believe such a turnout is normal because we should not expect it to be similar to the off the state or general elections," Amirudin, who is also Selangor Menteri Besar, told reporters today.

He was asked to comment on the drop in the voter turnout for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

The voter turnout for the Kuala Kubu Baharu seat during the Selangor state election last year reached 69 per cent.

The Election Commission (EC) in a statement today said the voter turnout for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election was 61.51 per cent.

"I believe that the voter turnout for this by-election is still good if we compare it with the by-elections in Sri Kandis and Balakong (both held in 2018)," he said.
